Getting Started with ListManager 5.x
Part 7: Unsubscribes & reports
Members of your list may occasionally write to you and ask to be unsubscribed, because they either cannot or will not do it themselves. We encourage you to handle these requests helpfully and politely.
Manual unsubscribing
To unsubscribe a list member manually, follow these steps:
- Look at the message sent to you by the list member, to see if it contains a copy of your email publication. If so, it may also include the member's unique unsubscribe address.
- Send a message to that unsubscribe address and the member will be removed from the list.
If you do not have the member's unsubscribe address, we recommend that you delete via the email command described above.
Automatic unsubscribing
If you have an announcement list, you can set up your list to automatically unsubscribe any members who reply to the list. To do this, put the %%email.unsub%% mail merge tag in the From: and Reply To: fields of your message. It can also be inserted automatically if you change your settings in the "List Info" section. For more information about editing these fields, see the From: and Reply To: headers section.
List membership reports
To get a text copy of your membership, send a message to the server on which your list resides (e.g., lyris@comet.sparklist.com, lyris@yourvirtualdomain.com, etc.) with the following text in the body:
login yourpassword
review yourlistname
Lyris ListManager will send you back a message containing the complete list of your members' email addresses. If you want the names also you can send:
review yourlistname names
as your email command.
Automatic reports
Lyris ListManager can also send you a subscribe/unsubscribe report at regular intervals.
In the "List Admin" section, click on List Info. At the bottom of the page, you'll see the "Miscellaneous" section. Set Subscription Reports to mail your report as often as you need.
